The Port Washington-Saukville Jaycees held the first annual Land Regatta Run/Walk on August 16th, 2014 at the Coal Dock Park. Over 200 people turned out for the event, helping the Jaycees increase awareness for the much needed safety railing along the north promenade of the Coal Dock Park. The Port Washington-Saukville Jaycees committed 100% of the proceeds raised from the event, a total of $6,265, to the City of Port Washington via a check presentation to Mayor Tom Mlada during the Chapter Meeting held September 11th.
The second annual Land Regatta Run/Walk was held by Be3 on August 15, 2015 at the Coal Dock Park. Over 200 people joined us again and helped us raise enough funds to install an outdoor fitness park in the Upper Lake Park. Installation of the park began in October 2015 and we hope to see it complete before the end of 2015!
Many of the Land Regatta Committee are parents of young children who love Possibility Playground. With our move to the Upper Lake Park in 2016, we thought it especially fitting to dedicate proceeds from the event to the park we, and so many people in our community, have come to cherish. Be3 dedicated 100% of the proceeds, or $13,500, from the event to the Friends of Possibility Playground.
We went back to our beginning with the 2017 event by dedicating proceeds to the Coal Dock Park safety railing. An additional $13,000 was raised and donated towards the remaining railing installation.
We welcome your ideas! Project selection begins in October and must be finalized by the end of the year. We know that's early but it maximizes our opportunity to engage the community to support the event! Please contact us by email with your ideas and we will consider them for future events!
